Time to Sew!

Does it really matter if your sewing machine
lying at the back of your cupboard is
something less than 'computerised'?


(yes, you can actually get them - I can
hardly believe it!)

The main thing is they join two pieces
of fabric together and if you are
inventive (you are, chances are I've seen your blog) and have some fabric lying
around you can actually 'make stuff!'



How lovely it is on a cold snowy afternoon to sit in the warmth of your home and sew something beautiful with fabrics you already own.

Something new from something old - I love that!

So if it's your old "Barbie" pink sewing machine


Or something state of the art



Why not lets make 2010 the year when we reuse what we have.
I am always sewing for the Wendy-House, but this year I am going to try
to make as much and buy as little as I possibly can.

This is my New Years Resolution.

    Happy New Year Wendy! What a great idea ... I was just wonder what I could make with an old pair of jeans which have just got to the 'beyond repair' stage.

    Brilliant resolution! I will be using my grandmas's old black and gold electric Singer to make a string quilt using fabric from my stash this year, so your post beautifully matches my plans! The String Quilt instructions, plus a challenge, are on the blog Loft Creations:

    There are 4 sewing machines in my house...all different stages of life and I do NOT know how to sew. Long story how I ended up with them, but my hubby who recently retired says he is going to learn...I say: GO FOR IT!

    Mine is of the Singer black and gold variety and is currently in need of an overhaul, off to the Singer shop in Tunbridge Wells when the big thaw comes!

    We have an old singer sewing machine like that, it was my Grandma's, she never threw anything away. I once saw one in a museum...

    Great resolution! I started with this resolution in 2009, and although I still go shopping, it's hard to buy ready-to-wear when you know you can make your own!
